Ironsage - Day 2

It's my second day as the mayor of Ironsage, and I woke up fairly early this morning; I have to say, I was pretty excited to start work. I recieved an anonymous letter... They congratulated me on my new position. I saw who it was signed by, noting it was from the mayor-to-be, who should've been here in my place. I felt a slight pang of guilt, but they stated that they were pursuing other things and it was meant to end up this way... so I shook off the feeling and prepared myself for the day ahead.

First off, I went to check the tree I'd planted yesterday, at the ceremony. It'd already sprouted, and I could tell it was going to become strong, just like I'd hope the town to become. I took a short stroll and talked with some of the animals I bumped into, who gave me odd bits of advice to help me settle. It was really quite nice! Along this stroll, I bumped into Pierce.

I walked over to the Town Hall, to see Isabelle, as I'd heard word that she wanted to speak with me. In order to start creating projects within the town, I'd need to get a permit. I would need to get the townsfolk's 100 percent approval in order to do this, which would take some time. Isabelle offered to help me out with this, which I appreciated greatly.

She mentioned I needed to pay off my first house loan in order to gain some approval, so I went ahead and worked on that. With some of today's money and the bit I earned yesterday, I was able to pay it off quickly, by talking to Tom Nook in his shop. It was exciting to know that I'd have my own actual house tomorrow, instead of just my tent. Then life will really begin!

She'd also mentioned that writing a message on the bulletin board would help me to gain approval, so I decided to leave another message for the townsfolk, to let them know the rather large, but hopefully wonderful, changes in store for the town! I hope I'm not getting too ahead of myself... I know it'll take a lot of work, but going in with a positive attitude and great expectations can't be too bad, right?

I wandered about, and did a spot of digging. I uncovered quite a few fossils, surprisingly. I headed over to the Museum to have them appraised, so they could be displayed. The museum turned out to be empty, besides my latest donations. Seems odd that they'd built one without anything to put out. But hey, there's lots of room to use up and we'll find plenty of fossils in time.

The museum worker himself was a strange character... He stood, asleep, in the center of the room. That's not unsual, seeing as owls are nocturnal, but it's quite funny that he'd just sit out there all day, and maybe all night? Once you did wake him, he'd talk on and on... hence the name 'Blathers,' I suppose.

It was a really nice day out, and I thought some fishing would be nice... Isabelle had recommended that I try fishing for trash to help clean up the town, although I had no luck. I did catch a couple fish, though, which was fun!

I also bumped into Drake, now a new friend of mine! He was quite a nice fellow, and had just the right personality, in my opinion. Not to snooty, rude, overly excited... :P

I went out to see if there were some shells on the beach I could sell for a small amount of cash, but to my surprise, a pelican dressed up as a sailor had washed ashore. I was confused, although I wanted to check if he was alright so I continued to walk up to him.

I had to talk to him many times before he actually awoke... He also liked to babble out a load of nonsense while being half-sleep. Gulliver, which I saw was imprinted on his sailor uniform, seemed to be quite of it.

Once he finally woke up, he introduced himself and explained his intentions. He wasn't totally sure how he'd washed up here, but he assured me he'd get where he needed to go perfectly fine.  He asked me a trivia question, on where Big Ben was located: London! He promised to send me a gift as soon as he arrived there. Thanks! :)

After speaking with Gulliver, I had to call it day. I knew tomorrow I'd have to continue my progress to 100 percent town approval, so we can start constructing public works in the town. I'm determined to make this town as pretty as possible. I haven't yet got a theme in mind... I'd like to try something medieval to be honest, but I'm not sure if that'd be possible with Animal Crossing's items. It'd be quite a challenge, but I'm willing to take it on if it's at all possible. Talk to you later!
